Brother Yusef
Proposed recording project that revisits the work and influence of Yusef Lateef.
Led by guitarist Jeff Parker, the idea is a performance of several Yusef Lateef compositions along side newer works by musicians involved. Newer work that is consciously connecting to the father of “world music”, while carrying on the spirit of exploration he was so noted for.
The “Eastern” sound.

After a 30+ year career in film direction, Detroit native Jeffery Plansker is producing for his label Geodesic Disques and the radio program Jazz Advance at dublab.
Both of these ongoing projects often revolve around Detroit produced music and musicians. His current production is Beneath Detroit, a continuation of the CD series and now a radio broadcast of the Creative Arts Collective concerts 1979-92 at The Detroit Institute Of Arts.
